A lot

Yes,  a lot is going on these days. After a long creative brak I started again. You might noticed the new song on Soundcloud:



It really took long this time, but it turned out really well I think

And I am working on several new songs, though I won't promise anything, it's just that I'm working.

Another major thing is, that I'm going to try really hard performing somewhere somehow next year.
I just started building up my live equipment these days. Still a lot to go, but I will work it out.

Drawing

First post in almost a month. I'm sorry but I really didn't feel to write anything. Which doesn't mean I did nothing! I finished several drawings, I'm quite fast with it these days. Focused primaly on drawing right now, my music ist a little bit behind. The song I am working on now is 70 % finished I'd say, but I really don't know when I will work on it again. Right now the priortiy ist really on drawing. I will upload some of them soon.
In addition to that I'm taking care of my porcelain stuff. As I wrote before, some people showed interest in my porcelain work. I will now get in contact with them again.

After the last post here a stopped my work a little bit. Nevertheless I finally finished my big picture project which you might have seen on Deviant Art:

It took really a lot of time. Although I did most of it in spring (you might remember my WIP post)
I finished it just recently. It is my largest picture to date and I plan of doing even a bigger one. It's really intersting to have so much space to draw, I usually drawn on Din A4. There's also a bigger picture I started last year on which I'm working right now.

I stopped recording for a while, I'm more focused on writing new songs, but I will soon start recording something. By the way, I'm playing on a little concert next week, I have to practice for that too. Maybe I will take some live recordings of it.

Silently not working

And now.......I don't know, do have some songs I could start to record, but right now I don't really feel to record something. It is still a lot of fun, but right now.......no. Moreover I'm kinda demotivated.
Really no one, no one on the whole internet seems to care about what I am doing. For example, as you might know, I did a cover of Portishead's Roads and I think it turned out quite well. I know it's not great but it's ok I think. I always thought "It's ok when nobody finds your music on Youtube, nobody knows it, but a cover is better to be find, because a lot of people do cover version"
Really, a lot of people do covers on Youtube, even of "Roads". But really everyone on Youtube got more views on their cover than me! Both versions of my cover have around 15 views. 15!
That's really a bad joke. I mean, I know I did not the best cover of the song out there, but everyone, even the guys who can't sing and record the song in front of a webcam with awful sound quality have more views! But why do I write it here? No one will read it anyway. I think there are two or three people reading this blog? Sometimes I really want to stop all this. Of course I do all my art stuff primaly because it's really a lot of fun, but it would be nice if anyone would care, and not only the 5 or so harcore fans I have. I really want to thank my few fans for still being my fans, caring about what I am doing here, it really gives me a lot.

Nevertheless I won't loose hope that I will have someday more "fans" and views. There must be a place for Kyle Egret in the internet!

I really hope someone read this.

Nevertheles I uploaded "Silently Into The Night" on Soundcloud. There are somehow difficulties with the upload function on Soundcloud, that's why I could only upload it with the "Old School Uploader".
I still wasn't able to upload the cover for it. I even contacted the Soundcloud support, but it didn't work out with their help either. I hope it works again soon, it's kinda boring with no cover, all of my songs have a cover. The cover right now is my profile picture, I don't know why.

Here it is, my latest song "Silently Into the Night". This time I uploaded it on Youtube first, there seems to be a problem with Soundcloud's upload function. As soon as it works again I will put it there too.

Silently

Right now I am working on my latest song. It is really doing well and I hope to finish the last recordings tomorrow. I'm still not satisfied with the mixing. I showed and early version of the song to a good friend of mine and she mentioned the same issue. When recording is finally finished I'm going to work on that. In addition I'm thinking about doing an A Capella song. Maybe I write some lyrics for.

Youtube updates

Here they are, my latest songs on Youtube, finally.

Sorry for the long pause, but I've been on vacation. I did some interesting things and got many new ideas. I'm gonna catch up some news now.

You might noticed that I uploaded the "complete" version of my Portisheads "Roads" cover on Soundcloud:


I think it turned out very well, and I even still like the unplugged version. First I thought I'm gonna delete it when the complete version is released, but I really like them both. I even think about doing another Portishead cover, but I'm still not sure which song. Maybe I have an idea in some days.

I really have to upload the last songs on Youtube, both versions of "Like Flowers" and the complete "Roads" are still mising on my channel. I promise to do that today.

Concerning the videos, I'm thinking about to make a special video with some of my pictures as slideshow or something like that. Maybe I will start to work on that soon too.

And by the way, I'm about to sign up on the website http://www.beat100.com/
I was somehow invited to join, which makes me very happy. I'm gonna take that chance.

I also working on a new song. The working title is "silently" and I finished most of the lyrics today.
Recording starts today too I think.

Portishead's "Roads"

Roads

Doing the unplugged version of Portishead's Roads was really a lot of fun. I finished it today and I'm going to upload it tomorrow on Soundcloud and Youtube. Because of the unplugged version I've got many new ideas for the final version, which is doing well too. I'm actually thinking about doing another Portishead cover song. I love their music, it's just totally awesome.

So I'll let you know when it's uploaded tomorrow.

Some thoughts

Yesterday I uploaded my latest song "Like Flowers", as you might noticed. I'm still not really happy about the song. When I started it I thought it would turn out very well, but in the end I failed somehow. I don't hate it, but it's not really what I wanted it to be. As I wrote before, it's always very difficult for me to finish a song. Although I think that the previous songs since "I Wait For You" turned out very well. I hope the next song turns out better.

I'm still working on the Portishead Cover of "Roads", but I'm somehow demotivated because of "Like Flowers", but I'll soon continue to work on it.

Within the next days I will upload both versions of "Like Flowers" on Youtube too.

So I uploaded both versions on Soundcloud. I'm still not sure whether I like it that much (something about the song itself is wrong) but hear for yourself:

Tomorrow I'm gonna release my new song "Like Flowers". I just finished the final mixing, but I think I stay with the idea of uploading to versions. Like always I'll but it up on Soundcloud and Bandpage first. I'll let you know. After that I will continue to work on my cover projects.

Like Fowers?

I'm about to finish my latest song "Like Flowers" .......somehow. I'm not sure how to end the song, that's why I'm thinking about releasing to versions of it (maybe not, I'm really not sure). I hope to finish it today since the last recording session was yesterday. Sometimes it's really hard for me to finish a song, because I don't know where the best point is to end it. Maybe it's because how I compose my songs, but I don't know.

In addition to that I was thinking about some cover songs. A while ago I did a cover of Hot Chips "I Feel Better". I still like the guitars of it, but the vocals aren't that good so I'm gonna re-record them soon. I also started a completeley new cover. As a HUGE Portishead fan, I started working on their song "Roads". It's really interesting to work on. I hope it will turn out well.

I'm still working on the other song a started a while ago, but I can't seem to really move on. I'd like to go on to work today. By the way, it will be called "From the Darkness you must Fall". Hope it will be finished within the next week, but I can't promise anything. In addition to that, I'm thinking about a new cover song, I'd like to do a Portishead song.

The big picture project is going to be uploaded too soon, I just have to do proper pictures of it.

So the last weeks I was very busy with new porcelain stuff I made. As I wrote before, from time to time a write to procelain companys whether they have interest in producing something of my stuff. Some even showed some interest, but I still got now reply.......hope they do someday. Nevertheless I uploaded a lot on Deviant Art. As I wrote before, I'm working on a huge drawing, consisting of four parts á Din A3. Here you can see three parts of it which are almost finished. Right now I'm working on the fourth part and when I'm finished it will be added to the other three.

In the last weeks I primaly focused on two projects. My latest song "Surrender To The Disorder"

and a new picture. The song is doing very well, although I have to admit that I had some problems with it, the overall structure of it. But I think it's now on the right way. I won't be finished this week as I thought before. I just don't want to rush with it, it's gonna take as much time as it needs. In addition to that I'm thinking about another cover project. As you might know, last year I did a cover of Hot Chip's I Feel Better. I really want to do a Portishead cover, still my absolute favourite band.

My other project is this huge Picture I'm working on. It consists of 4 pieces á DinA3. I worked on all pieces seperatley and now I'm about to put them together. I will as soon as I'm finished upload every part of it and then the whole.

Some updates

So I did some updates on Deviant Art. I'm still uploading my porcelain stuff, and I actually wrote to some porcelain factories as I told you before. Some of them even answered me, they all told me they'd like it, but that it would be hard to sell to their kind of customers. But there are still some anwers to go, so maybe some will give me a positive answer. The picture I sent them will be uploaded too soon.

And I also worked on my latest music stuff, I think it's doing good progress, although I'm not sure when it's finished. I showed to a friend of mine today, and he liked, so, let's see. Till then, here the updates

New song?......

As I wrote before, I was working on my latest song project "We go deeper" and I said that I would be finished soon.....but.....I don't know it somehow became very difficult to progress. I can't seem to move on with it. I ended up deleting most of the tracks, starting almost from the beginning, but I got so frustated that I started another song. This one works better until now. It's called "I Wait". I hope I really get this one finished. Don't get me wrong, I will finish "We go deeper" soon too, but now my focus is really on "I Wait" It's much more fun. Let's see how it turns out.

Both of the songs are dealing with something very important for me, I hope I get them done soon.

Porcelain Projects

When you are a loyal follower of my work on Deviant Art, you might remember the porcelain stuff I made a while ago. Teapot, mugs, dishes and so on. First of all I'm gonna upload better Picture of them, because they aren't really that good. But what I actually planning to do is, writing some porcelain manufactures with some pictures of my stuff. I wonder if they might be interrested to produce some of them. I'm thinking about it, because on my last exhibition many people asked me whether they could buy the teapot and mugs somewhere. So it seems people like what I am doing.

Samplitude or Cubase?

So I'm working on my latest song project as you know. Right now I am using Cubase 6 LE, but I don't know, it's not that good. It often crashes and simple tasks like copy and paste don't work all the time. Beside that I still have my Samplitude 15. I like it much more, but it sometimes stops for a while after I recorded something. It didn't do that before. I'm not sure, I think I' look for an update of samplitude and check the hardware again, although actually everything works fine.

As I told you before, I finally got new much better equipment. It's really very nice to work this way. That's why I started a new song project a few weeks ago. Last month I did not have much time, but now I'm going right for it. The song is called "We Go deeper" and I'd say it's finished 70%. I'm really happy how well everything works.

I also draw a lot of pictures recently. I uploaded one on deviant art. Futhermore I did some photos, which I also uploaded, hope you'll like 'em

You know it gives me a lot writing this blog, sharing updates whatsoever. Nevertheless I ask myself if anyone gives a damn about what I'm writing. I know that some people are reading this blog because of the user statistics. I would be very happy if someone would write a comment or likes me on facebook.

Plans

You maybe have noticed that my last post here was in december 2011. I thought now it would be the right time to post something, beacause I have huge plans for this year.
Next week my new set up of recording equipment will finally be complete. You know, all my previous songs are only recorded with one device, the Zoom H2. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome piece of hardware, but since I noticed that making my own music is beoming more and more important to me, I thought it would be the right time to uprade my recording techniques a little bit, which means: A good recording soundcard, several microphones, mixer console and more. It allows me to work better and faster, I hope. So it starts next week! I very excited to work with the new hardware, and you can be sure, I'll let you hear when I get something finished.

Futhermore I started a lot if drawing again, the old school style with pen & paper ;) I use the time on my long train rides, so I do a lot of small pictures. I uploaded one finished picture on Deviant Art
